OPERATIONS MANAGER

The Jewish Community Relations Bureau|AJC is hiring an Operations Manager who will help further the agency’s mission of advocating on behalf of the Jewish community to combat antisemitism and pursue justice.

The Operations Manager serves as a crucial pillar of the organization, managing everyday operations to ensure productive and efficient office operations. This is an opportunity to join a growing team and make a difference in both the Jewish community and the greater Kansas City community. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Office Management (35%)

  • Manage and maintain key organization databases and lists 
  • Manage office files (physical and digital) and supplies; handle and process mail
  • Develop and provide routine and non-routine reports, correspondence, scheduling, materials, and mailings 
  • Lead efforts to insure efficient office operations, including as liaison with building maintenance staff; IT; phone support; and external agencies and vendors
  • Develop, implement, and review operational policies and procedures, as needed.

Programs and Events (20%)

  • Develop and prepare marketing materials including e-blasts and print materials
  • Maintain website to ensure up to date content
  • Coordinate events, including program logistics and materials
  • Provide administrative and operational support for staff and programs

Other (20%)

Support Executive Director and Director of Community and Government Relations through scheduling meetings, drafting and formatting agency communications, creating reports and memos, and other duties as needed 

External and Board Relations (10%)

  • Serve as liaison to Board of Directors, including communications, scheduling, creating agendas, taking minutes, and preparing for Board and Board committee meetings 
  • Serve as an external facing ambassador of the organization to the community, including answering incoming calls, and monitoring and responding to general email inquiries

Financial management (10%)

Manage accounts payable and receivable (ex: deposits, process checks and invoices, QuickBooks recordkeeping), banking transactions/reconciliation, expense reimbursement, and financial reports

HR (5%)

  • Help manage recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of employees; manage benefits with external companies
  • Responsible for preparing, tracking and filing legal and regulatory documents
  • Help sustain an organizational culture that encourages top performance and high morale 

REQUIREMENTS 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Higher education experience or degree a plus 
  • At least 2 years of administrative support/organizational experience; office management experience and success working with outside  agencies and/or vendors preferred 
  • Proficiency in Office 365 applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook and web conferencing platforms. Database experience with a CRM  or Access or ability to learn. 
  • This position is expected to be flexible and to take on additional duties as assigned, according to the organization’s needs. Because we are a non-profit that serves the community, the ability to work occasional nights and weekends is required.

  • Knowledge of Jewish traditions, values, and history preferred, but not required 

ABOUT THE POSITION 

This is a full time, non-exempt position. Some weekend work and limited overtime is required at certain times of the year related to events, fundraisers, and current events. Current office arrangement is hybrid with 3 days in the office (T/W/Th) and 2 days (M/F) remote, subject to the needs of the agency. 

Annual salary range is $50,000-$55,000 depending on experience. Excellent benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision Insurance, Flexible Spending Account, PTO, Paid holidays up to 17 days (secular and Jewish), Simple IRA with company match, Life Insurance, AD&D, LTD. The organization closes early every Friday at 3 pm.
