Student to Student
Student to Student is a proven, classroom-based experiential program that brings Jewish and non-Jewish high school students together to learn about Judaism through personal storytelling. Jewish high school Student Presenters visit local high schools with few, if any, Jewish students to share their Jewish practices and experiences. The program is nationally recognized, having received the National Program Excellence Award from the Jewish Council for Public Affairs.
Student to Student, created over 32 years ago by the St. Louis JCRC, empowers Jewish juniors and seniors to speak authentically and confidently about who they are as young Jews, demystifying Judaism by giving presentations in area schools, with a focus on schools that lack a Jewish presence. The program is now in 35 communities, including Kansas City.
Through STS, students change the world, one classroom at a time. During presentations, participants provide insights into their lives as Jewish teens and put a “human face” to Judaism. Students who experience these presentations report an increased understanding of Judaism and more positive feelings towards Jews.
We are currently recruiting students for the 2025-2026 school year!
KC LFT students and alumni who apply for this incredible opportunity will receive priority application status.
TIME COMMITMENT
- Presentations will be during the school day, but each participant will typically give only one or two presentations each semester, at a time that fits into their schedule.
- We are planning a two and a half hour training session for our participants in the fall. Additionally, student groups will have a short prep call ahead of each presentation.
HOW TO APPLY
- To be considered for participation in the Student to Student program, students must complete this short application by June 20.
