Muslim-Jewish Advisory Council (MJAC)

In 2016, JCRB|AJC helped convene the Muslim Jewish Advisory Council (MJAC), inspired by a national initiative of AJC and the Islamic Society of North America. Three years later, we are officially one of eleven regional councils, and we are proud to serve as co-conveners of the Kansas City MJAC alongside the Crescent Peace Society.

The Kansas City MJAC brings American Muslims and American Jews together to advocate for issues of common concern. We are currently focused on addressing hate crimes in our region.

Over the years, we have built strong relationships with each other that have proved enduring in times of strife and in celebration. When our communities are targeted, whether its the Tree of Life tragedy or the horrific shooting in Christchurch, we show up for each other. We've hosted Iftar dinners and Passover seders, and welcomed each other into our mosques and synagogues. In 2018, JCRB|AJC distributed an Islamic holiday calendar alongside our annual Jewish holiday calendar, to demonstrate to our educational partners that we are committed to ensuring a positive environment for all religious minorities.
